Job Details
We’re seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead all day-to-day financial operations and supervise our accounting team. This role requires a deep understanding of general accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
o General Ledger, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
o Inventory Accounting and reconciliation of product lot tracking
o Recording bank disbursements and cash receipts
o Reconciling bank accounts monthly before new month postings
o Processing credit card receipts and deposits
o Managing collection efforts on overdue accounts
o Reviewing and removing duplicate or erroneous invoices
Leadership and Strategic Support
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees in the Accounting Department and is responsible for the performance, development, and compliance of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including:
o General Ledger, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
o Inventory Accounting and reconciliation of product lot tracking
- Prepare and issue monthly financial statements in a timely manner.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., sales tax, business licenses).
- Track renewals and maintain a master schedule for all business licenses and tax permits.
- Manage routine documentation such as COAs and pest control logs.
- Ensure periodic tasks like annual water meter tracking are completed for applicable rebates or credits.
- Conduct daily accounting tasks such as:
o Recording bank disbursements and cash receipts
o Reconciling bank accounts monthly before new month postings
o Processing credit card receipts and deposits
o Managing collection efforts on overdue accounts
o Reviewing and removing duplicate or erroneous invoices
- Maintain accurate accounting files for regulatory and internal use.
- Manage vendor payments, monitor monthly billing schedules, and ensure timely disbursements.
- Administer and reconcile sales representative disbursement cards.
- Record and reconcile monthly association fees, rebates, and commission programs.
- Review and reconcile accounts such as prepaids and accrued liabilities.
- Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking.
Leadership and Strategic Support
- Supervise and support the accounting team, ensuring adherence to internal policies.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and financial controls.
- Provide financial insights to senior management, including variance reporting and forecasting.
- Assist in the development of operational and strategic planning initiatives.
- Coordinate budget preparation, monitor actuals vs. budget, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Strengthen internal controls to protect company assets and streamline accounting workflows.
