Are you a seasoned finance professional with a passion for making a difference? We have an exciting opportunity for a Controller at a leading non-profit in North Orange County. This is a permanent position that offers the chance to play a crucial role in an organization committed to making a positive impact in the community.

As the Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the finance department, including accounting, budgeting, financial accounting, financial auditing, and grant accounting. **Responsibilities**

  • Oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulations.
  • Lead the preparation and management of the organization's annual budget.
  • Develop and implement financial management strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Manage the financial accounting and reporting process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices.
  • Oversee the grant accounting process, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and accurate reporting of grant expenditures.
  • Lead financial audits, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring all audit requirements are met.
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for budgeting and investment decisions.
  • Supervise, mentor and develop finance department staff.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure financial integrity and accountability.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide strategic financial guidance and recommendations.

**Qualifications**

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA or MBA is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting role, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Proven expertise in accounting, budgeting, financial accounting, financial auditing, and grant accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting standards and regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop staff.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to make sound financial decisions based on data.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
