A bit about us:

We are partnering closely with a fast-growing real estate investment firm focused on mixed-use, multifamily, and select commercial properties looking to hire a Controller. With an 11-person team and an expanding portfolio, they are hiring their first accounting leader to build and own the finance function from the ground up.

As Controller, you’ll establish all core accounting processes, lead financial reporting, and guide the company’s financial strategy as we scale. You’ll oversee month-end close, GAAP financial statements, investor and lender reporting, and cash management. Accounts payable is handled by an offshore vendor, and data entry flows through Yardi Voyager, which you will administer and optimize.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage month-and-quarter-end close; prepare consolidated GAAP financials and management reports
  • Produce investor distributions, capital account schedules, and waterfall calculations
  • Oversee offshore A/P operations and banking relationships
  • Implement accounting policies, internal controls, and scalable procedures
  • Coordinate annual audit and tax filings with external partners
  • Develop a hiring plan and build the accounting team as the firm grows

What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance; CPA is a plus
  • 8+ years of progressive real estate accounting experience
  • Strong candidates with public accounting experience and a background in Real Estate clients will also be considered
  • Strong GAAP technical skills
  • Yardi Voyager ERP experience preferred
  • Proven ability to manage audits, tax coordination, and vendor relationships
