A well-established, privately-owned manufacturer in the [region] is looking for a hands-on Controller to support day-to-day accounting operations and act as the right hand to the current CFO. With a strong legacy in the industry and a tight-knit family-led leadership team, this company offers the opportunity to step into a key financial role and grow into the top finance seat within 3–5 years.

This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing accounting, including cost accounting, inventory management, and AP/AR processes. You'll oversee a team of six, including AP, AR, and payroll, and help guide the business through an upcoming ERP system migration from an AS400/IBM8 environment. The ideal candidate will be local to the area and excited about the potential to shape financial operations from the inside out.

Job Details

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll, and inventory
  • Supervise and mentor a finance team of six
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes
  • Manage cost accounting and cost-of-goods-sold reporting
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance
  • Lead system migration from AS400/IBM8 to a modern ERP
  • Act as a key financial advisor alongside the CFO
  • Prepare for eventual transition into the CFO role

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with 5+ years of experience
  • Strong manufacturing accounting expertise (cost, inventory, AP/AR)
  • Track record of supervising accounting staff
  • Familiarity with legacy ERP systems, particularly AS400/IBM8
  • Experience driving process improvements and system conversions
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • CPA not required (but a plus)
