We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Controller to join our dynamic construction team. This role is pivotal in managing and improving our company's financial performance and direct accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit activity.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Implement, manage, and maintain the Viewpoint Vista software system.
  • Manage the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, and the conduct of its relationship with lending institutions and the financial community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Must have experience in partnering with an executive team.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and with accounting software, specifically Viewpoint Vista.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
  • Able to manage, guide, and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
