Controller

We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Controller to join our team in the Construction industry. We are an Owner/Builder in new home construction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, construction management, and cost control. They will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities within the company. This position requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry. We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Controller to join our team in the Construction industry. They will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities within the company. Responsibilities:

• Oversee all company accounting practices, including preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
• Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with CEO and other executive management team members.
• Supervise investment and cash management strategies.
• Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
• Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
• Develop and coordinate all relationships with lending/financial institutions.
• Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
• Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and other financial analyses.
• Monitor and control the flow of cash receipts and disbursements to meet the business and investment needs of the company.
• Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures.
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for federal funders, investors, and company’s board of directors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (MBA preferred)
• Experience with WIP scheduling for projects
• 5+ years experience in a senior financial managerial position within the construction industry
• Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Quickbooks financial reporting software
• Exceptional communication skills
• Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
• Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
• Strong understanding of construction management and cost control
• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
