Job Details
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our leadership team at a well-established food processing company based in Vernon, California. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance within the food manufacturing or processing industry, with a proven track record of managing financial operations, product costing, and team leadership.
This role is critical in overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with operations and production teams to develop and maintain accurate product costing models.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
- Utilize Excel and ERP systems to streamline reporting and improve financial visibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
- CPA certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of product costing and inventory accounting.
- Proficiency in intermediate to advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., CSB, SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
