We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller to join our Accounting and Finance team. This position will play a crucial role in the organization, managing all financial operations and ensuring the company's financial security. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, monthly reporting, and financial statements. They will also lead month-end close, year-end close, and manufacturing accounting. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting and the ability to handle high-level financials. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
2. Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses.
4. Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
5. Coordinate and complete annual audits, liaise with external auditors, and investigate their findings and recommendations.
6. Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls.
7. Manage the preparation and publication of departmental and organization financial documents.
8. Collaborate with executive leadership to define financial strategy.
9. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
10. Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
11. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.
2. CPA or CMA designation is highly desirable.
3. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
4. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
6. Proficiency in analyzing financial data and generating timely reports.
7. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
8. Experience in a manufacturing environment with costing expertise is a plus.
9. Ability to strategize and solve problems.
10. Strong leadership and communication skills.
11. Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
12. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
13. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
14. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
