We are seeking a dynamic, highly-skilled Controller to join our team in the construction industry. This individual will play a crucial role in the financial management of our company, ensuring that our financial operations are running efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. This role requires a high level of strategic thinking, leadership, and advanced knowledge of financial management within the construction industry.

This individual will play a crucial role in the financial management of our company, ensuring that our financial operations are running efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. This role requires a high level of strategic thinking, leadership, and advanced knowledge of financial management within the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
- Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with President, VP and department heads on strategic growth.
- Study, analyze and report on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth.
- Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
- Review reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
- Confer with the President and department heads to coordinate and prioritize planning.
- Oversee the investment of funds and manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm's expansion, and deal with mergers and acquisitions.
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Provide strategic management of the accounting and finance functions.
- Direct accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of a company's financial information.
- Manage or oversee the relationship with independent audit firm(s) and manage comprehensive audits of company accounts and financial transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
- Proven experience in financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance and information analysis.
- Well informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market and business environments.
- A proven track record of success in managing and directing financial functions, including forecasting and job costing.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
