Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Controller, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Overseeing all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
2. Directing financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with President and VP regarding budgeting, cost and financial analysis.
3. Supervising the investment and raising of funds for business.
4. Creating and implementing SOP's for the accounting department to streamline and improve processes.
5. Working with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
6. Developing and managing financial systems/models and overseeing financial management systems.
7. Performing cost accounting functions for the construction industry, including cost control, financial analysis, and budgeting.
8. Implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
9. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction industry.
3. Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
4. Proven experience in creating and implementing SOP's.
5. Excellent financial and numerical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
6. Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage a team.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make sound financial decisions.
9. Proficiency in using financial software and advanced MS Excel skills.
10. Familiarity with financial regulations and legislation.
11. CPA or CMA certification would be considered an asset.
