We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the Aerospace and Defense industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and fiscal health. This role requires a professional with a strong background in financial reporting, month and year-end close, general ledger reconciliation, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account analysis. The Permanent Controller will report directly to the Owner and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the business's financial performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
3. Regularly produce financial reports and statements, ensuring all reporting is accurate and in compliance with financial regulations and standards.
4. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors.
5. Oversee the production of monthly reports including reconciliations as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by executive management.
6. Manage the month and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
7. Coordinate and manage company payroll functions, ensuring all payroll activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
8. Manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
9. Perform detailed account analysis and provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
10. Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.
11. Communicate financial metrics to senior management and provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or CPA would be an added advantage.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in the Manufacturing industry.
3. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Experience with financial reporting, month and year-end close, general ledger reconciliation, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account analysis.
5. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP).
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
8. Self-motivated and self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision.
9. Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
