Job Details

The Controller is responsible for maintaining the financial health of the company and managing the Accounting team. Responsibilities include developing strong processes and protocols, training and coaching staff, month-end closing tasks, leading year-end audit efforts, reviewing payroll, budgeting, and other job-related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities for the Controller

Supervise and develop Direct Reports, including the Accounting Manager, as well as any other assigned Accounting, Admin, or Finance staff. The Controller works closely with all departments, and especially the Finance and Sales Operations teams.
Review, calculate, and handle commissions, payroll, and compensation as needed to ensure accuracy.
Establish strong procedures and protections against fraud and misuse of funds.
Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP, as well as end-of-month/quarter/year accounting reports for internal use, audit, tax, and banking requirements.
Develop, report on, and manage budgets.
Oversee tax filings and payments.
Complete regular reviews and audits of Accounting, Inventory, Finance, and Purchasing.
Manage new initiatives, integrations, reports, and special projects.
Report to Executives on the financial health of the company.
Collaborate and strategize with Finance, Sales, and Executives.
Help and act as backup for HR/payroll/admin activities.
Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

The individual plays a key role in the accounting, finance, and admin operations of the company. The individual in this position should be personable, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, intelligent, and able to adapt to the forces around him/her—customers, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and vendors.

Experience:

Accounting: 5+ years (required)
Supervisory: 5+ years (required)

Education/Training/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree (required), accounting or business administration preferred
Master’s degree (preferred), MBA or MAcc
CPA (preferred)

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Strong communication skills
Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Ability to handle conflict
Willingness to adapt, learn, and take direction
Ability to maintain a positive presence in the workplace
