We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team. This role will be integral in managing and improving our organization's financial performance and direct our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a firm grasp of industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all company accounting practices, including preparing financial statements and budget reports.
2. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
3. Develop and maintain complex financial models using Excel to support strategic initiatives.
4. Manage the consolidation of financial data for all departments.
5. Conduct variance analyses, ad hoc reports, and performance reviews to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
6. Collaborate with management on development and execution of funding strategies.
7. Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors, stakeholders, and executives.
8. Ensure adherence to GAAP, FASB, IFRS, RUS, FERC, IRS, and KRS standards.
9. Implement and manage ERP systems, specifically PeopleSoft, to streamline financial operations.
10. Work within the Electric Utility industry's financial regulations and strategic finance.
11. Conduct regular ledger and reconciliation reviews to maintain accuracy.
12. Lead and support financial planning and business forecasting efforts.
Qualifications:
1. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.
2. Minimum of 10 years of technical accounting experience, preferably in a leadership role.
3. In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Rural Utilities Service (RUS), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS).
4. Proven experience with financial planning, forecasting, and financial reporting.
5. Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
6. Experience with ERP systems, specifically PeopleSoft.
7. Familiarity with Electric Utility industry and its financial regulations.
8. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
9. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
11. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
