We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to join our Accounting + Finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to apply their expertise in real estate accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall financial management of our real estate portfolio, including balance sheet reconciliations and accruals, journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 5+ years of managerial accounting and finance experience in a real estate environment.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to join our Accounting + Finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to apply their expertise in real estate accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall financial management of our real estate portfolio, including balance sheet reconciliations and accruals, journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 5+ years of managerial accounting and finance experience in a real estate environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings, ensuring completion of financial statements.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and accruals, and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Perform detailed reviews of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Develop and maintain financial models for real estate projects, including budget, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
- Work closely with leadership team to formulate the business's medium to long-term financial and strategic plan.
- Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments.
- Manage the preparation of payroll for personnel.
- Keep up-to-date with current financial and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting or financial management role within the real estate industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS.
- Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and financial modeling tools.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to direct and supervise.
