Job Details

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions for the fund, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry best practices. This individual will manage hedge fund accounting, financial operations, and internal controls, providing critical insights into the financial performance and operations of the fund. The ideal candidate will have experience in both hedge fund accounting and GAAP accounting, with a strong understanding of investment fund structures and the regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation of financial statements for the fund, ensuring they are in compliance with GAAP.
Oversee hedge fund accounting functions including net asset value (NAV) calculations, capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting.
Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process to ensure the timely and accurate completion of the audit.
Manage daily cash management, including monitoring liquidity and preparing forecasts.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of fund-level and investor-level reporting.
Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures in accordance with industry standards.
Work closely with the portfolio management and operations teams to ensure the integrity of investment transactions and performance reporting.
Prepare and review investor allocations, tax documents, and distribution schedules.
Maintain and improve the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and practices to meet the needs of the fund.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, staying current with changes in accounting standards.
Support the CFO in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a hedge fund or investment management environment.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and hedge fund accounting principles, including NAV calculations, fund structures, and investor reporting.
Strong understanding of investment vehicles, capital markets, and financial instruments.
Experience working with complex investment portfolios and the ability to analyze financial statements and investment performance data.
Proficient in accounting software and systems (experience with Advent, Eze Software, or similar platforms is a plus).
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to senior management and investors.
