We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Permanent Controller to join our team in the construction industry. This role offers an incredible opportunity to lead and manage the financial affairs of our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including monthly reporting, year-end close, and financial statements. This role requires a high degree of understanding and experience with Great Plains, financial reporting, fixed assets, month-end close, and journal entries.

Job Details
- Oversee all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
- Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with CEO, COO and the leadership team.
- Supervise the investment of funds and manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm's expansion.
- Oversee the continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes and the development of the team with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.
- Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.
- Communicate financial metrics and expectations companywide.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Manage the year-end close process, monthly reporting and all journal entries.
- Coordinate with tax accountants for tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
- Manage relationships with insurance providers and ensuring compliance.
- Manage all aspects of fixed assets.
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies.
- Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors.
- Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. SAP, Great Plains).
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Excellent problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Experience in a construction industry would be advantageous.
