An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned financial professional to join our dynamic team as a Permanent Controller. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is detail-oriented, and is passionate about making a positive impact in the non-profit sector. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, including financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. You will also play a critical role in the annual audit process, tax returns, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all financial operations including accounts receivable, fund accounting, and grants accounting.
2. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance statements, cash flow statements, and income statements.
3. Ensure compliance with A133 and Housing and Urban Development regulations.
4. Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
5. Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
6. Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets.
7. Use NetSuite, Bill.com, and Expensify software to streamline and automate financial processes.
8. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop financial strategies and plans.
9. Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations to enhance financial health and sustainability.

Qualifications:

1. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
2. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is a plus.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector.
4. Proficient in non-profit accounting, fund accounting, and grants accounting.
5. Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and A133 regulations.
6. Experience with Housing and Urban Development is highly desirable.
7. Proficient in using NetSuite, Bill.com, and Expensify software.
8. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
10. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
