Job Details

Working under the supervision of the CFO, the Controller will be the leadership responsible for overseeing the performance of and overall responsibility for the Accounting functions. We are seeking a leader that will be responsible for all accounting operations, oversight of the general ledger processing, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual close.

Job Responsibilities and Competencies:
  • Establishes and maintains internal controls for the purposes of accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Manages and maintains the financial accounting, planning and reporting systems
  • Oversees the company Purchasing function
  • Recommends, implements, and monitors organizational policies and procedures related to managing expenses, revenue, and assets
  • Maintains, operates, and supervises General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Medical Billing
  • Prepares and records monthly journal entries to reflect on-going and special financial transactions
  • Supports CFO in preparation of reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expense, earnings, and cash flow based on current, prior, and expected operations.
  • Compiles annual budget based on information submitted by departments.
  • Monitors cash flows for multiple bank accounts and ensures reserves for distribution.
  • Analyzes financial information provided by individuals applying for residency as private or life care residents; reviewing application forms, financial documents, tax returns, etc. to assess the probability of financial resources to meet contract obligations.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of progressively expanding accounting and finance roles.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and ability to apply to work to include understanding of advanced concepts such as statistical analysis, formulas, and graphs.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and accounting software. Experience with Answers on Demand (AOD) and Prophix preferred but not required.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Possess an ability to be inquisitive, and a strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Capable of implementing process improvements to include streamlining of work and negotiate contracts.
  • Must have ability to be front facing, working with current and prospective residents, team members, leadership, and any other identified stakeholder, consultant, or government entity, as required.
