Job Details

A Controls Engineer II is responsible for designing, programming, debugging, and troubleshooting automated material handling systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to established guidelines of the Controls Engineering department. This position will perform with minimal supervision and report directly to the Controls Engineering Manager.

Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program, modify, and debug new or existing control system installations of material handling systems
Provide on-site system installation support for both controls hardware and software via commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting
Design electrical and controls systems solutions based on engineering principles and customer specifications
Create/Modify electrical drawings utilizing AutoCAD
Provide technical support to customers when required
Participate in on-call rotation schedule for 24/7 customer support
Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed
Support sales team in pre-sales technical concept
Provide assistance and training to other employees in regard to the company’s drawing standards, programming, and file management software
Education and Experience:

3-5 years related job experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar related degree)
Experience with Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000/500, FactoryTalk View, and AutoCAD
Experience with Siemens software including Step 7 and WinCC a plus
Experience with VFD Drives, Barcode Scanners/Cameras, Networking devices
Experience working with material handling conveyor systems
Strong fundamental knowledge of electrical and control system design
Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical prints
Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills
Willingness to learn about and use new product lines due to project requirements
Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output and demanding environment
Able to work independently and in team environments
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with the customers, vendors, and team members
Ability to balance multiple projects
Travel as required to support projects
