Building Automation Controls Technician

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Building Automation Controls Technician to join our team in the Sterling, Virginia market and support the successful implementation of building automation systems. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing point-to-point verification, zone startups, and implementing software/graphics based on project specifications. You'll play a key part in ensuring our systems are installed correctly, thoroughly tested, and fully functional.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform point-to-point checks and functional verification on zone control systems
  • Start up and commission zone HVAC control systems per design specifications
  • Download and modify control software and graphical user interfaces
  • Troubleshoot field issues and perform basic diagnostics during startup
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation, checkout sheets, and screen updates
  • Manage time and tasks efficiently to stay within project budgets and deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients
  • Ensure all work is completed with a high level of quality and consistency
  • Follow internal safety guidelines, policies, and standard procedures

Requirements:
  • Associate’s Degree in Applied Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC DDC controls theory and applications
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC or mechanical systems, DDC controls, and zone startups
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following BAS systems: Schneider Electric (preferred), Siemens, JCI, ALC, Trane, Honeywell, or others
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and software—programming skills a plus
