Job Details

  • Controller is responsible for all phases of finance, accounting, tax, and financial reporting activities at the divisional level in close coordination with the accounting/finance team at corporate headquarters.
  • Financial reporting including monthly departmental financial analysis and review, maintenance of all accounting records, general accounting, cost accounting, transactional accounting, financial statement preparation and analysis, and tax preparations.
  • Oversee the activities of the Accounting and Finance department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting at the business unit level.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and maintain compliance in applicable federal & state regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Perform tasks associated with month-end, quarter-end and year-end close and prepare account reconciliations & G/L analysis.
  • Ensure appropriate financial, risk management, accounting and human resource policies and procedures are developed and maintained.
  • Compile and analyze monthly financial results to explain variations from budget/forecast.
  • Ensure that all transactions are properly controlled and accounted for by standards consistent with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and all company, state and federal policies and procedures and serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits at the business unit level.
  • Analyze financial and accounting activity, and uses information to forecast and prepare budgets, and to create and maintain performance metrics.
  • Provide assistance to the Chief Financial Officer with comprehensive analysis, forecasting and decision support as needed.
  • Coordinate audits with external auditors, in addition to supporting budget/forecast preparations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and productivity to ensure that the business unit meets the goals of its of shareholders.
  • Assemble and issue monthly management information reports, highlighting variances for the business unit and provides support and guidance on current period activities and gives input on future improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the business unit and ensures no significant balance sheet issues exist or develop.
  • Coordinate the activities of Accounts Payable, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, employee expense reports and cash control.
  • Coordinate the activities of Accounts Receivable to ensure the accurate and timely management of all Accounts Receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, credit, etc.
  • Manage general ledger and financial statements for the business unit, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end closings for the business unit.
  • Review and post journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.
  • Identify and implement initiatives for business improvement and cost reduction.
  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques.
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs, and controlling the daily cash management process.
  • Manage cost accounting and inventory control including valuation aspects.
  • Establish and maintain procedures and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the company’s value.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives and current accounting standards.
  • Conduct or coordinate audits of business unit accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor financial activities to ensure that all legal, regulatory, internal policies, work procedures and professional accounting standards are met.
  • Analyze and prepare financial information that will assist in making economic decisions about the Company’s future.
  • Lead the operations of the Accounting and Finance department.
  • Perform other duties and handle special projects as assigned.
  • Support Company initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required.
