Job Details

We are seeking a sharp, decisive, and results-driven Cost Accountant / AP Manager to take full ownership of companywide budgeting, expense control, vendor management, and purchasing oversight. This is a standalone role with high visibility and accountability, reporting directly to the CEO.


The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and capable of managing financial discipline across every department—manufacturing, sales, administration, and G&A. This person will set up and enforce budgets, approve all expenses, and negotiate all vendor agreements to optimize cost structure and improve profitability.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage departmental budgets across all functional areas
  • Enforce budget discipline; monitor actual vs. budgeted spend monthly
  • Approve all company expenses and purchases
  • Source and negotiate pricing for all materials, components, equipment, and services
  • Review and renegotiate all vendor and service contracts (insurance, materials, IT, etc.)
  • Manage AP processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with cash flow strategy
  • Work with department heads to forecast operational spending and identify cost savings
  • Track COGS and SG&A trends to inform executive decisions
  • Audit vendors for compliance with agreed pricing and terms


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting, budgeting, or AP management
  • Deep knowledge of procurement, AP processes, and financial controls
  • Strong negotiation skills and vendor relationship management
  • Expert-level Excel and ERP/reporting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP)
  • Self-starter mentality; thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment
  • Highly detail-oriented with a command-and-control mindset
