We are seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee all aspects of financial reporting, cost accounting, and compliance for our production/manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate monthly financial statements, ensuring tax and payroll compliance, managing inventory accounting, and supporting daily bookkeeping activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in accounting and financial systems, a proactive approach to process improvement, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with established deadlines.
Analyze prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets; manage related journal entries.
Oversee cost accounting, including the development and application of cost of goods sold.
Perform inventory accounting and reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with all tax obligations, including payroll, property, sales, excise, and income taxes.
Coordinate with external tax providers on federal and state income tax filings.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts (except cash accounts) on a monthly basis.
Review transactions posted by the bookkeeper and cash reconciliations.
Develop, implement, and maintain a structured monthly close schedule.
Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen financial operations.
Bookkeeping & Transactional Support
Record daily transactions as needed.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable management.
Ensure compliance with all payroll filings and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred (active or inactive).
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Workspace.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive “get it done” mindset.
Ability to travel to Hollister, CA several times per year.
