We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Customs & International Trade Associate Attorney to join our prestigious legal team. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker with a deep understanding of customs and international trade laws and regulations. This role will provide the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex and challenging customs and international trade matters, offering a unique opportunity to shape and influence trade policy and practice. The role requires a high level of responsibility, client interaction, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal advice and representation to clients on matters related to customs and international trade, including import and export regulations, tariffs, and international trade agreements.
2. Represent clients before governmental agencies such as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. International Trade Commission.
3. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to international trade.
4. Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues related to customs and international trade law.
5. Develop and implement effective legal strategies to protect clients' interests and resolve disputes.
6. Stay updated on developments in customs and international trade law and policy, and advise clients accordingly.
7. Participate in business development efforts, including networking events and client presentations.
8. Collaborate with a team of attorneys and other professionals to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admitted to practice law in the state.
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney, with a focus on customs and international trade law.
4. Strong knowledge of U.S. and international customs and trade laws and regulations.
5. Proven experience representing clients before governmental agencies.
6. Excellent legal research, writing, and negotiation skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
9. High level of professionalism and adherence to legal ethical standards.
10. Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
12. Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
13. Fluency in a second language is a plus, but not required.
