Position Summary
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team supporting the design and development of raised access flooring systems, structural framing, and custom architectural products used in mission-critical environments, including data centers, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities.
This role is responsible for designing innovative, cost-effective products from concept through production while collaborating with manufacturing, project management, and sales teams to ensure products meet customer specifications, structural requirements, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Design and develop raised access flooring systems, structural supports, pedestals, stringers, and related products.
Create detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation using CAD software.
Perform structural calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and design validation to ensure product performance and code compliance.
Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for manufacturability, quality, and cost reduction.
Support new product development from concept through production launch.
Work closely with sales and project management to develop custom engineering solutions for customer applications.
Participate in product testing, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and technical documentation.
Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Provide technical support to customers, vendors, and internal teams as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
3+ years of design engineering experience in manufacturing, structural products, construction products, or building systems.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar 3D CAD software.
Experience creating fabrication drawings and engineering documentation.
Strong understanding of structural design principles, steel fabrication, and sheet metal manufacturing.
Knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience designing raised access flooring systems, structural framing, or architectural building products.
Knowledge of structural load calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
Familiarity with data center infrastructure, modular construction, or commercial building products.
Experience supporting custom-engineered products and customer-specific solutions.
