The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of vacuum and hydro-excavation trucks. This is not a “parts changer” role — we need someone who can troubleshoot independently, take ownership of repairs, and keep equipment field-ready.
You’ll play a direct role in maintaining uptime across a high-utilization fleet operating in demanding job site environments.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, PTO systems, and vacuum components on industrial trucks
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on vacuum trucks, hydro excavators, and combination units
Troubleshoot electrical issues, sensors, and control systems tied to pumping and vacuum systems
Service liquid vacuum and liquid ring vacuum systems, including pumps, valves, and filtration components
Inspect and repair high-pressure water systems used in hydro-excavation equipment
Maintain DOT compliance standards and complete accurate service documentation
Work with shop leadership to prioritize repairs based on utilization and customer demand
Coordinate repairs with vendors for specialized components when needed
Support field service calls as required to minimize customer downtime
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of diesel mechanic experience (heavy-duty trucks or equipment)
Experience with hydraulics, PTOs, and pump systems (vacuum or fluid transfer equipment strongly preferred)
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues independently
Familiarity with vacuum trucks, hydro excavation units, or similar equipment is a big plus
Understanding of DOT inspections and compliance requirements
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, uptime-driven environment
Own tools preferred
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience with vacuum blowers, liquid ring pumps, or high CFM systems
Background in environmental, construction, or industrial service equipment
CDL (or willingness to obtain)
