Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting to lead our accounting operations in a fast-paced eCommerce environment. This individual will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, compliance, tax planning, and accounting functions to ensure the integrity of financial data and adherence to industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of eCommerce financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support business objectives and financial integrity.
Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including FP&A, Tax, and Treasury, to drive financial strategy and business performance.
Oversee eCommerce-related financial transactions, such as payment processing, chargebacks, and sales tax compliance.
Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
Work with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and tax filings.
Identify and implement process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Monitor financial trends and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial compliance.
Experience in the eCommerce industry, including familiarity with online payment systems, sales tax regulations, and inventory accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
