Job Title: Director of Accounting
Location: Waco, Texas
Reports To: Director of Finance

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Accounting to lead our accounting operations, with a particular emphasis on financial reporting, tax compliance, and integration of medical billing cycles. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong analytical skills, and is passionate about driving process improvements across accounting and billing functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition.
Oversee the integration and optimization of various medical billing cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.
Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance development.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Oversee all aspects of tax compliance, including federal, state, and local filings; liaise with external tax advisors as needed.
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across finance and billing operations.
Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements.
Serve as a key liaison with external auditors and support the annual audit process.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
Experience working in the healthcare or medical services industry, with a solid understanding of medical billing cycles and insurance reimbursement processes.
Deep knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and healthcare-specific compliance standards.
Proven track record of leading process improvements and systems upgrades.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Proficiency with accounting and billing software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Epic, or similar systems).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM).
Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards.
ERP implementation or optimization experience.
