Job Summary:
The Director of Analytics will lead the Data Team in the development of tools and methods to dramatically improve point-of-quote risk selection, company placement and price segmentation to enhance profitability and growth. The Data Team will work closely with Pricing, Product Management and IT to automate the rate revision process, identify and develop new rating variables or product structures and is responsible for selecting and managing the appropriate tools to facilitate sophisticated analyses and the streamlining of the analytical processes used by company teams. Principal objectives include Expanding Company Analytics, Analytical Accuracy, Competitor Analytics, Process Management, Personnel Management, and having a positive Personal Impact on company processes and group productivity.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develops analytical strategies to penetrate and expand markets for our non-standard product(s).
  • Determines profitable and salable price levels and program structures for all company programs.
  • Responsible for extraction and analysis of statistical data for decision-making purposes.
  • Identifies product/pricing issues and opportunities and performs or directs the analytical work necessary to complete national, group, state or product level analyses.
  • Identifies new pricing segment or product structure opportunities and directs or supports the analytical work necessary to assist their ultimate deployment.
  • Triangulates and organizes projects utilizing analytical, IT and vendor resources to improve data, automate underwriting and achieve company profitability and growth goals.
  • Consults on corporate objectives and resolve business problems associated with state programs
  • May manage the P&L of a state/program or group of small states/programs to test proof of concept projects and analyses and facilitate transfer of knowledge to Product staff.
  • Obtain regulatory approval for filings in assigned states and work with Product and Pricing staff to obtain regulatory approval for new/modified rating variables while ensuring compliance with state laws.
  • Must interact with and influence all areas of the organization including IT, Claims, Underwriting, Executive and Marketing to implement new rating elements, products or product revisions.
  • Manage and develop staff as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience using GLM linear modeling and other related statistical modeling techniques; GLM multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection, etc.
  • Undergraduate College Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or other STEM related fields.
  • 5+ years of product development/management, pricing, statistical analysis and/or applied predictive analytics experience.
  • Possess a mastery of analytical/statistical concepts and the programming languages necessary to facilitate intensive predictive analytics. Experience can include programming languages and statistical packages such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, etc.
  • Advanced analytical and end-user software skills such as Access, Excel, Word, Insight, and other software languages deployed by the Company.
  • Demonstrated team building and coordination skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
