Job Details:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Finance to lead our organization's financial operations and improve our financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in both business and management. The Director of Finance will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and prosperity of our organization. This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to make a significant impact on our organization's financial strategy and operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee, direct, and manage all aspects of the financial functions of the organization including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
2. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and laws, as well as adherence to US GAAP.
3. Prepare and present financial reports including monthly financial statements, annual operating budgets, and capital budgets.
4. Manage and oversee the payroll function to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions.
5. Develop and implement effective financial strategies, control systems, and processes to support the overall strategy and goals of the organization.
6. Oversee the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and produce a monthly budget versus actual report.
7. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
8. Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
9. Ensure the organization’s financial systems are robust, compliant, and support current activities and future growth.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. An MBA, CPA, or related qualification is highly desirable.
2. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a senior financial managerial position, preferably in a non-profit organization.
3. Strong understanding of US GAAP, state regulations, and experience with financial reporting and data analysis.
4. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
6. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
7. Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.
8. Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
9. Ability to strategically lead, motivate, and develop a diverse finance team.
10. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
