Job Details

We are seeking a mission-driven finance leader with exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong background in financial management. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in collaborative environments and is passionate about using their expertise to support organizational growth and impact.

The Director of Finance is responsible for all functional aspects of accounting within the organization, including preparing budgets, monitoring and managing financial information, managing the general ledger, preparing written reports, and supervising Accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting and finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Manage grant accounting and compliance, including federal, state, and private funding sources.
  • Collaborate with program staff to prepare budgets and financial documentation for grant proposals and reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Supervise finance staff and coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and long- and short-term debt obligations.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit or education setting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and grant compliance preferred.
  • Experience managing federal and state grants is a plus, including compliance with 2 CFR 200 and A-133 audit standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
