We are seeking a highly skilled and seasoned Director of Fleet Maintenance to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet across multiple locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of a wide array of fleet vehicles, including heavy and medium trucks. This position requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of fleet management, and a strong background in trucking.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the entire fleet service operations, ensuring all vehicles are maintained and serviced according to the established maintenance schedule.
2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
3. Supervise and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance and training to ensure high-quality work.
4. Maintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance records for all fleet vehicles.
5. Coordinate with various departments and external vendors to ensure the timely and cost-effective maintenance of vehicles.
6. Regularly inspect vehicles to identify any issues and schedule necessary repairs.
7. Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
8. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
9. Analyze performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions.
10. Regularly communicate with senior management on fleet status, maintenance issues, and proposed solutions.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
2. 5+ years of experience in fleet management, specifically in fleet service operations across multiple locations.
3. In-depth knowledge of maintenance records and fleet vehicles, including heavy and medium trucks.
4. Proven experience in managing and supervising a team.
5. Strong understanding of maintenance schedules and the ability to manage them effectively.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly.
7. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. Proficiency in using fleet management software and other related technology.
10. Ability to travel as needed to oversee operations at multiple locations.
