Job Details
We are Seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer PE to serve as the Engineer of Record of our NYC Engineering Department consisting of approximately 15 personnel with annual revenue between $2- 4M. This person will be a key member of the engineering team and will work closely with our offices in the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering design and QA/QC background within the New York State and New York City areas. The candidate must have a working knowledge of buildings mechanical, electrical and other support systems. Additionally, the candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise and good communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
- NYS PE License REQUIRED
- Minimum 5-12 years of experience in designing MEP Projects.
- Ability to work well with junior level staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated familiarity with NYC and NYS building codes required.
- Experience with municipalities and government agencies a plus. Prior client experience with: DASNY, CUNY, OGS and other NYS Agencies is desired.
- Strong technical skills.
DUTIES:
- Sign and seal all drawings and specifications prepared by the Engineering Department for filing to the respective jurisdiction within New York and New Jersey.
- Conduct quality control review of engineering design calculations performed by in-house or outside consultants (MEP only).
- Conduct quality control review of design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Required to Sign & Seal drawings prepared by others. Because of this, a thorough written evaluation of the design will be prepared. This report shall include and address: 1) A thorough written evaluation of drawings and specifications; reports; design calculations and references to applicable codes and standards against which the work was checked. 2) The report shall identify the common name of the project; owner of the project and/or the client; the preparer of the documents; date of evaluation; documents reviewed, with listing of dates of issue. 3) Conformance with applicable codes including, but not limited to: town, city, state and federal codes; appropriate professional standards (ASME, IEEE, ASTM, etc.).
- Conduct site visits, as requested by the Project Engineer to address any questions or concerns pertaining to the design either prior to or during construction.
- Support the peer review process of RFI responses and equipment submittals during the bid and construction phases.
- Ability to move seamlessly between projects and support prioritization of projects and schedules according to Senior Management.
