Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Director of Property Accounting for our organization in the Real Estate/Property industry. This is a permanent position and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and implementing effective financial strategies. This role requires a high level of expertise in forecasting, cash flow management, cost accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and account reconciliation. The selected candidate will also be expected to have proficiency in Quickbooks, Yardi, strong knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, general ledger management, and the preparation of financial statements.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable and receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, treasury and payroll.
2. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
3. Coordinate and complete annual audits.
4. Perform monthly financial analysis for each property in the portfolio.
5. Prepare accurate monthly financial property reports.
6. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
7. Meet financial accounting objectives.
8. Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
9. Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies for the set-up of new properties.
10. Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company's automated financial systems.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the real estate industry.
4. Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles as well as GAAP guidelines.
5. Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
6. High proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks, Yardi, and financial management software.
7. In-depth knowledge of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
8. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
9. High attention to detail and accuracy.
10. Ability to direct and supervise.
