Job Details
Key Accountabilities
Preferred - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Design SCADA control panels and create all accompanying fabrication and installation documentation. The predominant design supply voltage is off-highway automotive 24VDC.
- Define product/project requirements by engaging directly with customers and internal team members.
- Specify or design new components as required for assigned projects.
- Work with other company personnel and customers to resolve system malfunctions and provide technical support.
- Coordinate manufacturing, installation, support, and testing activities to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
- Participate in project scheduling and provide cost/effort estimates to stakeholders.
- Detailed recent experience with electrical control panel wiring and layout, for Canada/USA 600VAC or less.
- Detailed recent experience producing electrical wiring schematics from scratch using any CAD program.
- Detailed recent experience producing electrical panel manufacturing documentation from scratch, including layout drawings, wire lists, cable schedules, and BOM’s.
- Detailed recent experience with sensor instrumentation specification and integration (4-20mA, Boolean digital inputs/outputs, frequency inputs, etc) and communication networks (Ethernet TCP/IP, CAN bus, Modbus TCP/RTU, etc).
- Extensive knowledge of Canada/USA electrical installation and safety standards, particularly the CEC and NEC.
- Exceptional working memory and adaptability to changing requirements and material procurement barriers.
Preferred - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of oil and gas well completions, with a focus on hydraulic fracturing.
- Experience with rugged industrial electrical equipment design and best practices for extreme outdoor environments.
- Experience with electrical integration of large off-highway engines and transmissions.
- Knowledge of 12/24VDC automotive electrical systems and charging equipment.
- Experience designing custom outdoor cable assemblies and automotive wire harnesses.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems engineering.
- Basic power and line calculations at 600VAC or less, along with equipment specification including disconnects, heating/cooling, contactors, VFD’s, etc.
- Knowledge of fluid process piping integration and the basics of pump operation (primarily centrifugal and reciprocating plunger types).
- Experience with CAD design using EPLAN Electric P8 + Pro Panel.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication, weld notation, and best practices. Emphasis on as these apply to electrical enclosure fabrication, but also for standalone components.
- Experience with hazardous locations design and equipment specification.
- Minimum – Diploma or Associate of Applied Sciences in Electrical and/or Instrumentation
- Preferred – Bachelor of Engineering / Engineering Technology in Electrical and/or Instrumentation
- Professional designations are not required.
- Required – (5 to 10 years) Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology
