Job Details
In This Role, You Will:
Evaluate project requirements, break them into actionable tasks, and collaborate with the design team to define scope, budget, and staffing needs.
Apply expertise in electrical design to collaborate with owners in defining project requirements, performing building load calculations, analyzing power distribution systems, sizing equipment, and developing technical specifications.
Document existing conditions and conduct in-depth troubleshooting to resolve complex challenges, including conflicting design requirements, code compliance issues, and difficult site conditions.
Develop engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems while assessing the performance and efficiency of existing systems.
Partner with the building performance team to integrate alternative energy sources into electrical distribution systems, contributing to sustainable and energy-efficient designs.
Review drawings and documentation to ensure alignment with company design standards, production guidelines, applicable codes, and Owner expectations.
Utilize Revit as a core design tool to enhance efficiency and precision in project development.
Mentor and support the development of design staff, serving as a resource and guide for technical questions and best practices.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of experience designing power systems for healthcare, commercial, and/or government facilities.
Professional engineering licensure (PE) is highly preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure.
Proven experience working with a consulting engineering or architecture/engineering (A/E) firm in an electrical design capacity.
Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including IECC, LEED, ASHRAE, NFPA/NEC, other relevant NFPA codes, and FGI Guidelines.
Proficiency in Revit for electrical system design.
Familiarity with electrical analysis tools such as SKM, EasyPower, or Helioscope.
Understanding of sustainable technologies and their application in modern commercial electrical system design.
