Job Details
Key Responsibilities
Design electrical systems for higher education facilities including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and telecommunications
Apply healthcare design standards and experience to specialized academic medical facilities and health sciences buildings
Develop detailed construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
Collaborate with architects, other engineering disciplines, and clients throughout project lifecycles
Perform electrical engineering calculations and analysis using industry-standard software
Conduct site assessments and field investigations of existing facilities
Provide construction administration services including shop drawing review and site visits
Mentor junior electrical engineers and coordinate with electrical designers
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations including NFPA, NEC, and healthcare-specific requirements
Develop innovative solutions that meet sustainability goals and energy efficiency requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design
Demonstrated experience with healthcare facility design, including knowledge of healthcare codes and standards
Experience with higher education projects preferred
Proficiency in electrical design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical analysis programs
Strong understanding of power distribution systems, lighting design, and low voltage systems
Knowledge of energy codes and sustainable design practices
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
LEED accreditation
Experience with laboratory and research facility design
Knowledge of smart building technologies and building automation systems
Familiarity with design-build project delivery methods
Experience mentoring junior staff
