Job Summary
The Electroplating Laborer supports electroplating operations by loading and unloading workpieces, assisting plating personnel, maintaining plating equipment, and performing general production and housekeeping tasks. This role helps ensure plated products meet quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Load metal workpieces onto hooks, racks, cathode bars, baskets, or barrels for electroplating.
Unload plated workpieces from racks, baskets, barrels, and other holding devices.
Immerse workpieces through cleaning, pickling, plating, rinsing, and finishing tanks following established process times, either manually or using hoists.
Transfer workpieces between conveyors and processing stations throughout the plating operation.
Set tank temperatures to specified operating levels.
Operate controls and switches to initiate electroplating processes.
Inspect finished parts for plating defects, including rough surfaces, thin plating, or other visible imperfections.
Dry plated components using ovens, centrifugal dryers, or other approved drying methods.
Package finished products for shipment according to company procedures.
Drain, clean, and refill plating tanks as required.
Remove plating buildup from racks using hand tools or compressed-air equipment.
Apply protective coatings, such as shellac, to plating racks.
Replace worn or damaged equipment components as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry materials consistent with production requirements.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
Ability to work around chemicals, heated equipment, and industrial machinery while following all safety procedures.
Ability to use hand tools and operate material handling equipment safely.
