Employee Benefits Account Manager
Retail Insurance Brokerage
The Employee Benefits Account Manager serves as the primary day-to-day contact for clients and carriers, responsible for delivering outstanding service and strategic guidance on group benefits programs. This role involves managing a book of business, ensuring timely renewals, resolving service issues, and supporting producers and clients through the full policy lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of client accounts, including new business implementation, annual renewals, open enrollment, and ongoing service needs.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, and vendors to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
Prepare and present benefit summaries, renewal reports, cost analyses, and strategic recommendations to clients.
Collaborate with producers to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and assist in the development of new business proposals.
Coordinate and oversee open enrollment processes, including communication materials, employee meetings, and systems setup.
Ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other regulatory requirements.
Respond promptly to client inquiries related to claims, billing, eligibility, and coverage issues, escalating to carriers or internal departments as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in agency management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, BenefitPoint).
Monitor market trends, carrier changes, and legislative updates that impact employee benefits.
Support internal process improvements and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in employee benefits or group insurance account management, preferably within a retail brokerage setting.
In-depth knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit plans.
Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and agency management systems (e.g., EPIC, Ease, Employee Navigator).
Active Life & Health Insurance License (required).
Professional designations such as CEBS, GBA, or REBC are a plus.
