ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Information & Research
Provides support related to environmental and regulatory compliance, permitting, and litigation. Ensures Court and Administrative Agency Docket review and conformity. Maintains processes to track environmental litigation and regulatory case status. Prepare, track and review information requests to local, state and federal agencies. Prepares reports of relevant matters. Manages e-discovery and other litigation support duties (including responding to discovery and third-party subpoenas). Conducts research. Reviews and tracks permits, licenses, contracts and compliance documents, and supports multiple state/regulatory filings and reporting and trending of compliance. Prepares correspondence to government regulators. Reviews requests for proposals and assists in response preparation. Compiles data and prepares regular reports, including Excel spreadsheets. Oversees organization and preparation of exhibits and pleadings for filings in federal and state courts, and administrative tribunals. Applies knowledge of codes, statutes, regulations and procedures related to the assigned practice area. Conducts pre-claim investigation, legal research and initial case assessments. Obtains records and documents; interviews clients, parties and witnesses; prepares subpoenas; develops exhibits; locates expert witnesses; manages databases; reviews literature and searches databases. Assembles and organizes factual information. Prepares and reviews administrative records in litigation. Takes initiative to support litigation teams and add value to client representation.

Draft Documents
Draft interrogatories, requests for production, motions, memorandums, witness and deposition outlines, privilege logs; draft correspondence to clients; draft FOIA or public records requests to governmental or regulatory agencies.

Document Management
Manage collection of discovery documents from clients, manage eDiscovery litigation review databases, manage databases; manage document productions; maintain collection, production and privilege logs. Manage, track and summarize documents received from agencies. Oversee disposition of documents at the end of the case.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

Preference for experience in environmental and natural resources law, plus administrative agency docket review and filings.

Technical Knowledge

Must have prior experience in litigation and managing databases. Must have a strong understanding of Court and Administrative Dockets, rules and regulations. Must have prior experience with or be capable of rapidly understanding, interpreting and applying to various client circumstances the full range of codes, statutes and procedures related to the assigned practice area.

Physical and Mental Capabilities

Must be capable of operating a telephone, calculator, personal computer and printer and learning/using software required to successfully perform job functions, e.g., electronic mail; drafting correspondence and documents; proofreading for correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; reading and interpreting legal correspondence, memoranda, documents, reference publications or reference books and technical manuals in printed form or on a computer screen; occasionally lifting and carrying boxes of files or documents weighing up to 25 pounds; and using a hand truck.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree is preferred. Must have 5+ years of related experience that demonstrates analytical and written research capabilities. Must have paralegal certificate in the appropriate jurisdiction.
