Job Details
As a Steel Estimator with our client, you'll experience a dynamic and challenging work environment every day. Your primary responsibility will be to interpret project drawings and specifications, perform material take-offs, and prepare precise cost estimates for steel projects. You will engage with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather the necessary information to ensure your estimates are accurate. Being analytical and detail-oriented is crucial, as you will analyze project requirements, consider pricing options, and offer recommendations to optimize costs. You'll also need to stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to guide your decision-making.
As a full-time employee, your workweek will run from Monday to Friday, offering a healthy work-life balance. This role is based in a fast-paced, collaborative setting where teamwork and effective communication are key to success. What You'll Need to Succeed
To excel in this role, you'll need a robust skill set and familiarity with specific software and tools. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical and mathematical skills, enabling them to accurately interpret project drawings and specifications. A keen attention to detail is critical, as you'll be responsible for precise material take-offs and cost estimations. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software is essential for creating detailed project layouts and collaborating with architects and engineers. Knowledge of construction estimation software, such as Bluebeam or On-Screen Takeoff, is a significant plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also vital for working effectively with project teams, suppliers, and clients. You should be able to negotiate and collaborate to gather accurate information and ensure successful project outcomes. A customer-focused mindset is important, as you'll be tasked with delivering cost-effective solutions that meet client requirements. By combining your technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills, you'll thrive in this Steel Estimator role.
