We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Estimator to join our dynamic team. This position plays a pivotal role in our engineering department, serving as the primary point of contact for pricing requests and cost estimation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering, with a keen eye for detail, superior analytical skills, and a deep understanding of cost forecasting. If you have a passion for problem-solving, a knack for numbers, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades.
2. Review and evaluate cost estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Work with Project Managers to plan, organize and schedule estimation work.
4. Prepare and present cost reports, including forecasts, and project financial conditions.
5. Analyze pricing requests from clients and provide accurate estimates.
6. Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing information.
7. Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
8. Evaluate offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.
9. Maintain a comprehensive database of materials, labor, and equipment costs.
10. Continually enhance knowledge of construction materials and pricing trends to factor into estimates.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably within the engineering industry.
3. Proficient in computer software programs such as MS Office, AutoCAD, and estimation software.
4. Exceptional analytical and mathematical abilities.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
7. Strong understanding of engineering concepts and ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
8. Proven ability to work in a team and coordinate with other departments.
9. In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
10. A professional certification in cost estimation or project management is a plus.
