We are a respected, high-volume family-law practice seeking an accomplished Senior Family Law Attorney to handle complex domestic-relations matters from intake through trial. This is a client-facing role with immediate responsibility for a busy docket and the opportunity to mentor junior attorneys and paralegals.

Please note this is a Senior-level role and we ask that you have a minimum of 5 years of first chair trial experience.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in all phases of divorce proceedings—case initiation through final judgment—including prenuptial agreements, property division, and spousal support.
  • Manage high-stakes child custody and child support matters, including cases involving allegations of abuse or domestic violence.
  • First-chair contested hearings and trials; develop and execute litigation strategy.
  • Lead settlement negotiations and mediations, proposing and finalizing marital settlement agreements and consent orders.
  • Draft persuasive pleadings, motions, discovery plans, and proposed orders.
  • Conduct and defend depositions; prepare clients, witnesses, and experts for testimony.
  • Supervise and mentor associates and paralegals, reviewing work product and providing ongoing coaching.
  • Maintain organized, compliant client files and consistently meet quality, productivity, and client-satisfaction goals.

Required Qualifications
  • Active license to practice law in Maryland (strong preference for dual licensure in DC and/or Virginia).
  • 5+ years of first-chair trial experience in family law.
  • Demonstrated success representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Exceptional legal research, persuasive writing, and courtroom advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to manage support staff and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Experience handling sensitive, complex issues such as child abuse allegations, contentious custody disputes, and domestic violence.
