We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Family Law Legal Assistant to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to delve deep into the world of family law. Responsibilities
As a Family Law Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:
1. Drafting and proofreading legal documents and correspondence related to family law cases.
2. E-filing and e-billing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.
3. Transcribing court proceedings, meetings, and other relevant communications.
4. Identifying and resolving conflicts of interest.
5. Managing the calendar for attorneys, scheduling appointments, court dates, and deadlines.
6. Utilizing LEDES and Aderant software for legal billing and management.
7. Conducting comprehensive legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
8. Assisting in the preparation for family court appearances, including compiling necessary documents and evidence.
9. Maintaining and managing client files, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and easily accessible.
10. Performing time management tasks, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and within set deadlines.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in Family Law.
2. Proficiency in drafting, e-filing, e-billing, and transcription.
3. Experience with conflict identification and resolution.
4. Familiarity with calendaring and legal management software, such as LEDES and Aderant.
5. Strong legal research skills.
6. Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
7. In-depth knowledge of family law and family court procedures.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
10. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
