We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fiber Splicer to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This role is crucial in maintaining and improving our fiber optic network. The ideal candidate will be responsible for splicing, testing, and repairing cables using various high tech equipment and tools. You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and quality of our network infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong technical background and a desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform fiber splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and repair operations on both single-mode and multi-mode fibers using DWDM and CWDM technologies.
2. Read, interpret, and update fiber optic network schematics and documentation.
3. Conduct optical fiber projects, such as FTTH, FTTB, or backbone installations.
4. Use optical test equipment, including power meters, OTDRs, and fiber identifiers.
5. Maintain and handle optical fibers and connectors to meet the set standards.
6. Perform routine maintenance on splicing equipment and tools.
7. Ensure all installations meet quality and safety standards.
8. Work closely with the engineering team to develop and implement fiber optic system designs.
9. Provide technical support to clients and team members as needed.
10. Participate in on-call rotation for network emergencies.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in fiber optic splicing, including experience with DWDM and CWDM.
2. Proven ability to splice and troubleshoot fiber optic cables.
3. Proficient in using various optical test equipment.
4. Strong knowledge of fiber optic theory which includes fiber loss, connector types, and optical power.
5. Ability to read, understand, and update fiber optic network schematics.
6. Experience in working with high-count cables.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
8. Ability to work in various environments and conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and outdoors.
9. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
10. Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
12. Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide outstanding customer service.
