We are seeking Field Engineer I and II professionals to support the execution of modular construction projects. This is a fully traveling, 100% onsite position supporting a Field Project Manager with jobsite document control, progress reporting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, material tracking, invoice verification, and quality feedback to manufacturing. The role combines field engineering responsibilities with the day-to-day work of an assistant construction project manager.

Document Control & Reporting
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, meeting minutes, distribution, and accurate jobsite records.
  • Assist with owner–architect–contractor (OAC) meeting agendas and minutes; prepare client weekly progress reports.
  • Verify superintendent daily reports, equipment logs, manpower tracking, and supporting documentation.
Site Operations, Logistics & Schedule
  • Track jobsite supply chain and materials, including field-kit-of-parts (FKOP) and direct-to-site (DTS) deliveries, against schedules and installation sequence.
  • Support modular building set operations, custody transfers, and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate closeout materials, including operations and maintenance (O&M) documentation, warranties, punch lists, and as-builts.
  • Help update schedules based on verified field progress and flag slippages affecting inspections, installation, or turnover.
Financial, Subcontractor & Quality Support
  • Review invoice backup for accuracy and recommend approval to the Field Project Manager; draft purchase orders within approved scope and budget.
  • Support change-order documentation and maintain the potential change order (PCO) log.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and vendors against documented scope, approved submittals, site rules, and safety and quality standards.
  • Capture field quality issues, communicate them to manufacturing, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • For Field Engineer II assignments, train junior field engineers in document control, material tracking, and observation reporting.
Qualifications
Required
  • For Field Engineer II, 2–4 years of relevant construction or field experience; Field Engineer I level will be evaluated based on applicable experience.
  • Working understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and modular/design-manufacture-construct (DMC) delivery approaches.
  • Basic understanding of contracts and subcontracts, with strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing tasks, resolve field issues, and use construction document-control and scheduling platforms.
  • Familiarity with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and remain 100% onsite at the assigned project location.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science, or related discipline.
  • OSHA 30 or related safety/quality credential.
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, and Smartsheet experience.
  • Experience tracking field materials, owner-furnished equipment, or modular construction installations.
  • Experience with AI-supported reporting/document control and design-build construction.

Authority & Escalation
The role may control jobsite documentation, prepare approved purchase orders, verify invoice backup, monitor subcontractor compliance, issue reviewed progress reports, and coach junior personnel as assigned. Final approval of invoices, contracts, change orders, additional work, commercial commitments, and disputes remains with the Field Project Manager or other authorized leadership. Safety incidents and significant quality concerns must be escalated promptly.

Growth & Benefits
The Field Engineer II position offers a potential pathway to Field Project Manager I, subject to demonstrated performance and a minimum of two years in the Field Engineer II role. Progression considers construction sequencing, drawing and contract interpretation, permitting, schedule and cost control, material procurement, and project risk awareness.
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; flexible spending accounts; paid time off; short- and long-term disability; life insurance; and a 401(k) plan. Support for professional certifications and development may also be available.
