Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare, analyze, and manage monthly and annual financial statements in collaboration with the external CPA firm.
Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, U.S. GAAP standards, and applicable GASB pronouncements (e.g., GASB 87 and 96).
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and collections.
Maintain steady cash flow through accurate billing schedules and proactive collection practices.
Coordinate with the external CPA firm to complete annual audits and IRS Form 990 filings.
Budgeting & Strategic Planning
Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process.
Track and report on budget vs. actuals throughout the fiscal year.
Monitor financial plans and keep senior leadership informed of the organization’s financial health.
Propose and evaluate revenue models to support sustainability and growth.
Systems & Process Improvement
Implement and manage financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books).
Collaborate with program and departmental leaders to enhance financial workflows and reporting tools.
Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate finance systems with CRM platforms like Salesforce.
Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure strong internal controls.
Training & Support
Provide training and support to staff on accounting principles, financial policies, and budget processes.
Monitor financial investments in collaboration with the Board Treasurer and Financial Advisor, aligned with the organization’s investment policy.

Qualifications:

Experience & Skills
3–5 years of experience in nonprofit or small business financial operations.
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, nonprofit GAAP, and GASB standards.
Experience preparing internal financial reports and supporting external audits.
Proficiency in QuickBooks (required); familiarity with Zoho Books and Salesforce is a plus.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff.
High level of integrity and commitment to mission-driven work.
Education & Technical Proficiency
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong technology skills and comfort working with financial systems.
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.
