Job Details
Responsibilities:
As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for a broad range of financial activities including:
1. Overseeing all financial operations and directing corporate financial planning and structure.
2. Coordinating, analyzing, and reporting the financial performance to management and board of directors (financial performance, projections, and other special projects as required).
3. Preparing short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.
4. Overseeing audit and tax functions, and coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms' performance.
5. Developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive job cost system.
6. Directing and analyzing studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations.
7. Estimating to complete (ETC), estimating at completion (EAC), and expense management.
8. Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
9. Protecting assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Financial Controller position should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Space Services industry.
3. Proven experience with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
4. Solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
5. Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
6. Proficiency in accounting software and experience with a software system implementation.
7. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
8. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
9. Able to analyze financial records and transfer information.
10. Self-motivated leader with strong organizational skills, analytical ability, and detail orientation.
11. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
12. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
14. High proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. SAP).
15. Professional certification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus.
