We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Financial Controller to join our team in the construction industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to oversee our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial stability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, leadership, and will be adept at handling debit and credit operations, closing monthly books, financial reporting, auditing, internal controls, financial analysis, and budgeting. This position requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accounting Manager - Controller, you will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
1. Overseeing the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
2. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department including month and end-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
3. Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
4. Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
5. Coordinating and completing annual audits.
6. Providing recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
7. Ensuring compliance with all internal processes.
8. Collaborating with management on the development and execution of funding strategies.
9. Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
10. Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Senior Accounting Manager - Controller, you must possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA is highly desirable.
2. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting management or a similar role in the construction industry.
3. Solid understanding of accounting principles, fair credit practices, and financial data analysis.
4. Proficiency in accounting software.
5. Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
6. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
9. Ability to understand and manage complex financial transactions.
