Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Represent community colleges, public schools, and other public entities in education law matters, including special education disputes, student discipline, and employment issues
  • Defend clients in IEP meetings, IDEA and Section 504 hearings, due process hearings, and mediations
  • Handle claims, including harassment, discrimination, investigations, and Title IX matters
  • Provide legal counsel on policy development, regulatory compliance, and risk management for educational institutions
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and represent clients in administrative proceedings and litigation
  • Advise on governance issues, open meetings laws, and public records compliance for school boards and community colleges

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in education law, litigation, or administrative hearings
  • Active California bar admission
  • Strong litigation skills, including motion practice, discovery, and hearings
  • Experience representing public entities, school districts, or higher education institutions preferred
  • Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, Title IX, FERPA, and other education-related regulations
